United Nations Public Service Award for Home Ownership Programme
Singapore’s Housing Development Board (HDB) has won the United Nations (UN) Public Service Award. This is in recognition of the Home Ownership Programme which has allowed 81% of the Singapore population to be housed in almost 900,000 flats across the country. Notably, 95% of those who live in HDB flats are owners of their homes.
The UN Public Service Award is one of the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. It is given to public institutions for their creative achievements and contributions that lead to a more effective and responsive public administration.
